South Carolina women’s basketball star headlines FIBA 3×3 World Cup roster

Former South Carolina teammates MiLaysia Fulwiley and Joyce Edwards will reunite this summer and take the court together on an international stage.

Fulwiley and Edwards were named on Wednesday to Team USA’s squad for the FIBA 3×3 Women’s World Cup, which will take place next month, June 1-7, in Poland. Joining Fulwiley and Edwards on the team are LSU’s Mikaylah Williams and Oklahoma’s Sahara Williams.

The squad, made up of stars from the SEC, was chosen by Elena Delle Donne, who serves as Team USA’s managing director for 3×3 women’s basketball. The team will be coached by Christina Batastini, who played at Stanford and has been working with Team USA for several years. Wisconsin’s Julia Ford will assist her.

Fulwiley and Edwards played together at South Carolina during the 2024-25 season before Fulwiley transferred to LSU, where she starred alongside Mikaylah Williams this past season. A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Fulwiley has twice been named the SEC’s Sixth Player of the Year and has twice been named to an All-Region team in the NCAA Tournament. Playing for Kim Mulkey last season, Fulwiley averaged 14.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.8 steals and 1.4 blocks per game — all of which were career-highs for the junior.

Mikaylah Williams has started in 105 of the 106 games she’s played in at LSU and was named to the All-SEC First Team for a second time this past season. Williams averages 15.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game for her career while shooting 39.3% from 3-point land. In 2022, she was the USA Basketball 3×3 Athlete of the Year. Williams also has three FIBA 3×3 U18 World Cup gold medals, helping Team USA win three consecutive titles in that competition.

Edwards has quickly blossomed into a star in two seasons at South Carolina, twice helping the Gamecocks appear in the national title game. The 6-foot-3 forward from Camden, South Carolina, was a consensus All-American as a sophomore this past season after averaging 19.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 57.1% from the floor.

Sahara Williams, a versatile forward for the Oklahoma Sooners, averaged 12.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 46.1% from the floor this past season as a junior. She helped Oklahoma make the Sweet 16, where the Sooners fell to Edwards and South Carolina.

All four players have extensive experience in the 3×3 game. Edwards and Fulwiley were members of the 2025 3×3 Nations League Team that went 14-2 en route to winning the Americas Conference title. Sahara Williams played alongside Mikaylah Williams on two of the U18 World Cup teams that won gold.

In Warsaw, Poland, 20 nations will compete in the World Cup. Team USA will tip off on June 2 against Hungary and then play Australia later in the day. All games will be streamed on YouTube.

Out of the previous nine 3×3 World Cups, Team USA has captured three gold medals and one bronze.
