Sparks Confirm Kelsey Plum Will Miss Time with Ankle Sprain

by

Nobody has been able to stop Los Angeles Sparks All-Star and All-WNBA guard Kelsey Plum in the first two weeks of the 2026 WNBA season.

Plum leads the WNBA in scoring at 26.8 points per game on a career-high 58.9% shooting from the field and 48.8% shooting from 3. The last time we saw her, she posted 38 points on an absurdly efficient 12-for-17 shooting from the floor and dished nine assists in the Sparks’ 101-95 win over the Las Vegas Aces last Saturday.

After the game, ESPN’s Michael Voepel relayed, “With 38 points tonight, she joins Elena Delle Donne (2015) & Maya Moore (2014) as only WNBA players to score 25+ points 5 times in their 1st 6 games of a season. EDD and Maya won the MVP award the years they did that.”

An extremely unlucky injury is the only thing preventing Plum from continuing her MVP campaign this week.

The Sparks confirmed via press release Tuesday night that Plum suffered an ankle sprain during practice and “will be re-evaluated in one week.”

Los Angeles (3-3) is set to travel to Washington on Friday and Connecticut on Saturday before hosting the Aces on Tuesday, June 2. Heavily dependent on Plum’s re-evaluation next week, she could return against the Dallas Wings on Friday, June 5.

Plum, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft, began her career with the Aces and won two championships before the Aces traded her to the Sparks in February 2025.
