The date for UConn women’s basketball’s showdown with Kim Mulkey and LSU is set. The Huskies and Tigers will square off as part of the Sprouts Farmers Market espnW Invitational on Sunday, Dec. 20 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The contest was originally reported by Rebecca Lobo back in January.
This will be UConn’s first meeting with Mulkey since she took over at LSU in 2021. The Huskies ended her tenure at Baylor with a come-from-behind 69-67 victory in the 2021 Elite Eight. Geno Auriemma is 5-4 in his career against Mulkey, including a 2-0 mark in the NCAA Tournament.

UConn is 8-1 all-time against the Tigers. The most recent meeting came on Nov. 20, 2016, a 76-53 victory for the Huskies in Baton Rouge. LSU’s lone triumph came in the form of a 73-50 blowout in the 2007 Elite Eight out in Fresno. The Huskies (2025) and Tigers (2023) have combined for two of the last four national championships.
The contest will be part of a doubleheader with Virginia and Kentucky facing off in the other game. Tip-times and ESPN broadcast designations will be released later. Tickets will go on sale at some point this fall, though fans can register for the pre-sale at www.espnwinvitational.com.
Nashville has treated UConn well in the past. The Huskies won their ninth national title at Bridgestone Arena in 2014, beating Stanford in the semifinal and Notre Dame in the championship. They last visited the city to play Vanderbilt on Nov. 13, 2020 — a 64-51 win.
UConn now has nine official dates out for the 2026-27 season. It’ll take the court for the first time in an exhibition against Syracuse on Oct. 12 at Mohegan Sun Arena, then host Texas in another tune-up on Oct. 19. The Huskies will travel to Michigan on Nov. 5 and Louisville on Nov. 15 while welcoming Iowa to Connecticut on Nov. 8. Four others will take place on neutral courts: South Carolina at Mohegan Sun Arena on Nov. 24, Duke at TD Garden in Boston on Nov. 28, Maryland at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Dec. 5 and LSU in Nashville on Dec. 20.
