Sure, it’s way too early for 2027 mock drafts. I think we can all agree on that. But what about power rankings for the upcoming NFL season that’s still. . .checks calendar. . .about four months from officially getting underway?
Yeah, it’s probably too early for those, too.

But you know what? We’re gonna look at at least one of them anyway because there just isn’t a whole lot else happening at the moment, at least until our Minnesota Vikings decide what they’re doing at WR3 or the NFL decides they’re going to release the 2026 regular season schedule or something.
So, let’s take a look at ESPN’s post-Draft power rankings and see where they have the Vikings slotted, shall we?
As things stand right now, the folks from Bristol have the Vikings sitting at #24 in their way-too-early Power Rankings. They also looked at each team’s most improved position, and determined that, for the Vikings, it was the quarterback spot.
Here’s their commentary on the purple:
The Vikings did some good work at defensive tackle in the draft, but they had long ago accomplished the most important task of the offseason by building a more competitive QB room. Kyler Murray was the best quarterback available this offseason, and he will cost the Vikings only $1.3 million while the Cardinals pay the remainder of his $37.6 million salary.
Instead of simply hoping J.J. McCarthy will take the necessary steps forward, the Vikings have a proven veteran with arguably higher upside in Murray. And if it doesn’t work out, the Vikings brought back Carson Wentz to ensure the position will have a higher floor than it did last season.
Now, I’ve made it clear in this space before that Kyler Murray just doesn’t do a whole lot for me, personally. Given that these rankings have the Vikings sitting at #24. . .comfortably behind the rest of their NFC North counterparts. . .he apparently doesn’t do a whole lot for the folks from ESPN, either.

How comfortably behind the rest of the division are the Vikings in these rankings? Well, they have the Packers sitting at #7, the Bears ranked at #9, and the Lions slotted at #11. So, according to these rankings, the NFC North has three of the top twelve teams in the National Football League. . .and the Vikings.
On the bright side. . .such as it is. . .there are four teams below the Vikings who appear on Minnesota’s schedule this year. Those teams are New Orleans (#25), Atlanta (#26), the New York Jets (#31), and Miami (#32).
Of course, as we mentioned earlier on, it’s way, way too early to put too much stock in these sorts of rankings yet. Still, if you want to get on the “nobody respects this team” train early, here’s your opportunity, I suppose.
