Inter Miami forward Luis Suarez scored the second goal of Inter Miami’s 4-2 victory over Toronto FC in controversial fashion.
In the 56th minute of Inter Miami’s trip to Toronto, Suarez let a pass from Lionel Messi run past him and finished with his left foot.

The flag would’ve gone up for offside on Suarez, but the second-to-last Toronto FC defender was Raheem Edwards, on the ground in pain just outside his own penalty area.
Moments before the goal, Edwards was defending Suarez in the box and won the ball from the Uruguayan striker. As Edwards turned to start an attacking move, however, he clashed knees with Inter Miami right back Facundo Mura.
Rodrigo De Paul won the ball back in midfield, found his Argentina teammate Messi and Inter doubled its lead. TFC players protested and manager Robin Fraser was seen discussing the play with the fourth official, but the goal was valid.

Edwards played on for several minutes but eventually was back on the ground and was substituted from the match in the 70th minute.

The play may generate some strong takes from MLS fans, but it also looks unlikely to have changed the outcome. Sergio Reguilón returned from injury and scored on a pass from Messi and Messi scored a goal of his own.
Toronto also took advantage of a slip in defense, with Colombian substitute Emilio Aristizábal scoring after David Ayala whiffed on a pass in his own area and adding a second in the 90th minute.
Inter Miami now travels to face FC Cincinnati midweek before returning to Nu Stadium, the team’s new facility where they’re yet to register a victory.
