The MLB trade deadline is fast approaching.
Teams looking to improve their standing for a postseason run have until Monday at 6 p.m. ET to make a move. A few trades have so far trickled in, including Boston’s acquisition of Curtis Mead that backfired immediately when he sustained a fractured wrist in his first game with the Red Sox.

But the fates of the biggest names on the block — most notably two-time Cy Young Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal — remain uncertain.
The Yankees, Red Sox, Braves and Brewers are among the potential buyers on the market.
The Tigers are the biggest wild card as they decide whether or not to pursue their long-shot playoff hopes or painfully part with Skubal.
The Mets and Blue Jays, two of the biggest disappointments of the season, are expected to be sellers — or, at least they probably should be.

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal notched his 1,000th career strikeout in Wednesday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.
It didn’t take long for the ace to reach the milestone, as he entered the day sitting at 999 punchouts in his career. In the top of the first inning, Skubal had a full count against Taylor Ward before putting away the leadoff batter with an 84-mph changeup.
Skubal finished the day after throwing 6 2/3 innings and striking out six batters. He allowed three earned runs and four hits and walked one. The Tigers lost 10-9 in 12 innings, leaving Skubal with a no-decision.
The pitcher’s milestone comes at an interesting time in his career. Skubal is in the final year of his deal with the Tigers and is the top name in trade rumors as the deadline approaches. The southpaw mentioned last week that he was aware he could be coming up on his last start with Detroit.
