Ecuador’s teenage archer Blanca Maritza Rodrigo Bueno shot a career-best 699 to top compound women’s qualification on Wednesday at the second leg of the 2026 Grand Prix of the Americas, held alongside the South American Championships in Santiago, Chile.
The 2025 Junior Pan American Games champion finished three points clear of El Salvador’s Sofia Paiz – the highest-ranked athlete in the field at world number 14 – after recording 20 Xs and 31 10s during the 72-arrow ranking round.
Paola Corado placed third on 689, ensuring El Salvador topped the compound women’s team standings ahead of host nation Chile.
Compound men’s qualification featured several familiar names at the top of the leaderboard, with El Salvador’s most decorated compound archer Roberto Hernandez taking pole position with an impressive 714.
He was closely followed by compatriot Douglas Vladimir Nolasco on 712 as the pair guided El Salvador to the top of the compound men’s team rankings.
The duo previously combined to win compound men’s team gold at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
Hernandez and Paiz also topped the mixed team qualification standings, as only four archers broke the 700-point mark across the compound qualification rounds.
