Stephanie White Fires Back After WNBA Warning Over Caitlin Clark Injury

The Indiana Fever’s handling of Caitlin Clark’s sudden absence has turned from a routine injury update into a league-level controversy, and now head coach Stephanie White is pushing back.

It all started when Clark was ruled out of Indiana’s game against the Portland Fire less than two hours before tipoff despite not appearing on the team’s injury report.

The surprise scratch raised immediate eyebrows because Clark had reportedly missed practice the day before while receiving treatment for back stiffness.

The WNBA responded by issuing a warning to the Fever over their injury reporting process, signaling concern that league protocol may not have been properly followed.

On Friday, just ahead of Indiana’s home matchup against the Golden State Valkyries, White showed little interest in accepting the league’s position.

“My reaction is: for what?” White responded when asked about the WNBA warning, insisting the Fever “did things the right way.”

When pressed on her frequent habit of deferring medical questions to the team’s health staff, despite reporters not having access to those personnel, White replied, “I’m sorry,” before shrugging.
