Right-hander Christian Zazueta bid a fabulous adieu to High-A Great Lakes by winning Midwest League pitcher of the week. Awarded on Monday, Zazueta pitched five perfect innings last Thursday for the Loons with seven strikeouts against the Lake County Captains.

That was the 21-year-old’s final start for Great Lakes, as Zazueta is getting promoted to Double-A Tulsa, which was reported on Sunday.

Zazueta had a 3.88 ERA in 11 games, including 10 starts for the Loons this season, with 66 strikeouts and 12 walks in 48 2/3 innings.

This follows winning the Branch Rickey Award in 2025 as the Dodgers minor league pitcher of the year, with a 2.41 ERA in 17 starts, and all but one of his 67 1/3 innings in Class-A Rancho Cucamonga, with 81 strikeouts and 16 walks.

Zazueta last season was an All-Star in the California League, and won pitcher of the month in Class-A for May. He was ranked the 12th-best prospect in the Dodgers system by Baseball America in May.
