The 2028 quarterback dominoes are starting to fall, and for Notre Dame football, they’ve got the position covered.
New Jersey’s Trey Tagliaferri committed to the Irish on Thursday afternoon, as the 6-foot, 1-inch and 190-pound prospect didn’t take long to make his decision. Notre Dame just made the offer earlier this month, and Tagliaferri was just on campus this past weekend.

He picked the Irish over offers from Penn State, Alabama, Oklahoma, Indiana, Georgia and others, showing the allure of the program for top quarterbacks. Tagliaferri is ranked as the No. 204 overall prospect and No. 14 ranked quarterback in the 247Sports Composite.
Tagliaferri’s commitment will help shape where others will end up, as another target of Notre Dame’s, Niemann Lawrence is set to commit tomorrow. At this moment, don’t expect another verbal, as this all but eliminates the Irish from contention.
With the newest commit, Notre Dame now has three verbals in the 2028 class, one that should again be near the top of the class rankings when the dust settles.
