LeBron James is expected to choose between the Warriors, Cavaliers, and Heat after informing the Los Angeles Lakers that he plans to leave the franchise in free agency.
James is currently spending time with his family in Ohio as he prepares to make what could be the final major free agency decision of his career, following previous moves to the Heat in 2010, back to the Cavaliers in 2014, and the Lakers in 2018.
“He’s going to make a decision on his own time,” Shams Charania said.
Golden State could create enough financial flexibility to sign James if Draymond Green accepts a lower salary on his new contract and the Warriors are able to move Moses Moody into another team’s cap space.
Cleveland may need to pursue a sign-and-trade because of its salary cap situation, while Miami is reportedly working to trade Nikola Jovic after acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo in an effort to create additional room.
According to Charania, more than a dozen teams are expected to express interest in James, who is reportedly prioritizing personal happiness over maximizing his next contract.
