Colorado is putting together its strongest high school recruiting class of the Deion Sanders era, and the path to get there has looked a little different from that of most programs.
As of mid-July, the Buffs have 20 commitments in the 2027 class and sit at No. 3 in the Big 12, according to 247Sports. That group includes quarterback Andre Adams and several prospects from talent-rich states such as Mississippi, where Colorado has made an especially strong push.

What stands out is how Colorado has built the class. Coach Prime and his top assistants have not spent much time crisscrossing the country. Instead, the Buffs have leaned on FaceTime calls, selective in-person visits and a heavy dose of Boulder hospitality once recruits arrive on campus.
Much of the road work has fallen to position coaches and recruiting staff with ties to the regions they are targeting. Mississippi native Gunnar White has been a major factor, while Darrius Darden-Box has helped connect the staff with prospects and families. Offensive coordinator Brennan Marion also made a key trip to visit Adams before his commitment.
Sanders said at Big 12 Media Days that Colorado has changed its approach.
“We changed the way we went about it,” Sanders said.

For Colorado, the result is a class that is deeper and better-ranked than in the last few years. The real test will come once those recruits sign in December, but the early returns suggest the Buffs have found a recruiting formula that finally fits.
