The 2025 WNBA All-Star game was a huge success. Napheesa Collier scored an All-Star game record 36 points, the players raised national attention to CBA negotiations by wearing “Pay Us What You Owe Us” shirts and the StudBudz changed Twitch forever by live-streaming the entire thing over 72 consecutive hours.
Can the 2026 edition in Chicago top it? We’ll see, but the All-Star rosters selected this year all but ensure an unpredictable, high-scoring game on Saturday, July 25.

As part of the celebration of the league’s 30th season, WNBA legends Cynthia Cooper and Teresa Weatherspoon are coaching the two teams this year. The rosters they drafted both include some of the biggest stars in the league who have played in 8 All-Star games each (A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart) and players having great seasons who were selected for the first time (Marina Mabrey, Jessica Shepard).
Expect points, lots of deep 3-point attempts and zero interior defense.

What happens if Kelsey Plum can’t play?
The All-Star game rosters should be set outside of Kelsey Plum, who hasn’t played for Los Angeles since June 21 with a lower left leg injury. The star guard was held out of the Sparks’ last game before the All-Star break on Wednesday, July 22 and at this point, it would be surprising if the 5x All-Star is able to play this year.
The process for replacing Plum is pretty simple — commissioner Cathy Engelbert can name a replacement, though she doesn’t have to. The replacement pick can be a player at any position, so Engelbert could choose the league leader in assists, Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas, but there are also plenty of deserving guards to fill in for Plum, including Veronica Burton, Carla Leite or Kayla McBride.
