Vaughn had a chance to become a serious passing threat in Miami

Miami went out and landed three pass catchers from the transfer portal this past offseason. Vaughn was one of them and he came to the Hurricanes after spending 2024 with Jacksonville State and 2025 at West Virginia.

Vaugh was sensational at Jacksonville State, catching 48 passes for 803 yards and five touchdowns. He followed Rich Rodriguez to West Virginia, but his stats fell in 2025, playing in the Big 12. Vaughn caught 35 passes for 541 yards and four scores.

“Cam is an unbelievable ball of talent. He can do anything he wants to do on that football field. Right now, it’s just a matter of him showing up every day with the mindset of knowing what he’s doing, attack consistently every day,” wide receivers coach Kevin Beard said this spring.

After going out and landing three portal wide receivers, along with Duke quarterback Darian Mensah, the ‘Canes don’t have a shortage of talent.

Malachi Toney is back for another season after arguably being the top wide receiver in the country last season. Toney was instrumental in helping Miami’s offense do what it did a season ago. He will be the featured playmaker in the Hurricanes’ offense.

Aside from Toney, Miami will rely on transfers Vandrevius Jacobs and Cooper Barkate. Jacobs caught 32 passes a year ago at Florida State for 548 yards and four scores.

Barkate is the sneaky addition. He caught for over 1,000 yards in 2024 at Harvard and then again last season at Duke. With already having a connection with Mensah, he could be in for a major 2026 season along with Toney.
