Caitlin Clark had a pretty difficult game against the Dallas Wings on Thursday, and their head coach has now been asked about stopping the Indiana Fever star.

Clark is widely regarded as one of the best players in the WNBA and has a shot at being in MVP contention this season.

But Caitlin only scored 10 points against the Wings while shooting 4-of-15 from the field and 2-of-8 from three-point range.

Dallas Wings coach wanted to get the ball out of Caitlin Clark’s hands

Now, Jose Fernandez has been discussing how his side focused on getting the ball out of Clark’s hands and making other Fever players shoot.

When speaking at his press conference, the coach was asked to talk about the defence his side played on Clark.

He responded: “Well, we wanted to get it out of her hands, you know, I mean, pick-and-roll situation in the middle of the floor, she’s so good.

“So, if it was going to be on the side of the floor, we wanted to get it out of her hands, make other people make shots.

“But this kind of performance, you know, the way that Paige took care of the ball, Maddy’s plus 16, Alysha Clark coming in and defending, Jess Shepard’s, all-time season high, Arike and what she did offensively. So there’s a lot of things and a lot of people responsible, and that’s what good teams do.”

That win against the Fever means the Wings now have a 21-16 record and sit eighth in the table, one place below the New York Liberty.

Liberty have a 22-15 record and will return to action this Saturday against the Indiana Fever.
