Over the past few weeks, the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team has announced several of their scheduled non-conference games. Most recently, they released dates for seven games against non-power four conference teams to be played in November and December. They’re standard games played early in the season to mix in with marquee matchups before SEC play begins.
However, it seems that legendary ESPN analyst Dick Vitale thinks that Kentucky isn’t doing enough. He first took to X after the seven additional games were announced.
Wow where is UNC -Indiana -Michigan – you are Kentucky a Goliath in hoops – that is not getting you ready for the SEC.
Kentucky, in fact, does play Indiana and North Carolina this season, along with Kansas, Virginia, and Louisville. Many fans explained that to him in replies, but that didn’t change his mind.
It’s an odd observation singling out Kentucky. When examining other blue blood schedules, the Wildcats play as many, or more, than the rest. Duke plays six power conference teams. Kansas has just three currently schedule, and North Carolina has the same.

It should also be noted that none of these schools’ schedules are complete yet, making Vitale’s post even stranger. Kentucky’s final schedule may, or may not, include more power five opponents. Either way, it’s a strong schedule overall, and no different from what every other team does. Fans are sure to remind Vitale of that.
