Cageside commentator Laura Sanko described Ronald Humphrey’s fighting style as “downright sadistic” in the early moments of his Dana White’s Contender Series 89 fight, and that proved accurate.
Humphrey (5-0) brought the action from the early second of the fight, then left opponent Alexis Miranda (9-3) in a pool of his own blood in a first-round submission victory in the welterweight bout on Tuesday at Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

Both men landed some huge shots in the limited fight time, but Humphrey was always ahead with the wrestling, then the striking, then the finishing instincts to get his hand raised at the 4:03 mark of Round 1.

UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping, who was cageside with Sanko calling the fight, sounded sold on the 25-year-old’s potential to make noise inside the octagon, in the likelihood that he is awarded a contract by UFC CEO White.
“He’s the real deal,” Bisping said in the aftermath of the result. “He’s nasty.”

Humphrey was high on his own potential, too, as he sent a message to everyone at 170 pounds.
“I’m f*cking next,” Humphrey’s said. “You all better f*cking watch out. … Whoever has the 170 belt – you’re done.”
