MADISON – One visit was enough for Royalton Allen.

The defensive back from Oak Hills High School in California joined the Wisconsin Badgers’ 2027 recruiting class Tuesday, June 2. 247sports and Rivals broke the news. The commitment was UW’s third from its first big weekend of official visits.

Coach Luke Fickell and his staff entered the weekend with their sights on six players. Receiver Jai Jones announced his commitment May 31 and linebacker Nathan Jones followed suit later that evening. Both players are from Arizona.

Allen is the third player from California that UW received a commitment from in the last two cycles. He previously announced his intention to announce his college choice July 15, but apparently saw enough last weekend to accelerate the process.

“Let’s rock out Badgers !!”, he wrote on X and Instagram.

According to MaxPreps, he made 34 tackles, 17 solo, last season with two interceptions. He also got some snaps on offense, rushing 71 yards and catching 11 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns.

Allen was first committed to UCLA but decommitted in December after it made a coaching change.

Allen is the 16th player in the Badgers’ 2027 recruiting class and the third member of the secondary. UW picked up commitments from safety Dustin Roach and Daniel “DJ” Davis in January and April, respectively

The Badgers might not be done receiving commitments this week. Four-star cornerback Mekhi Williams, a former Florida State commit, plans to announce his college choice at 4 p.m. June 3. He also made an official visit to Wisconsin last weekend.
