NC State and UNC set for non-conference hoops game in Greensboro

by

NC State and UNC are going to play twice in basketball this season, as it turns out–just not on either school’s home floor. In a development that beautifully illustrates the very stupid times we’re enduring in college sports, NC State and UNC are planning to meet in Greensboro for a non-conference game, reportedly in mid-December.

I’m happy to have a second game on the schedule, don’t get me wrong, it’s just amusing the lengths necessary for it to happen. But hey, this is going to be a nice boost for the non-conference strength of schedule on both sides, and the crowd mix should be compelling. Perhaps it will even merit national television coverage, given the timing.

It’d be cool not to make a habit out of this, but no doubt it’ll be a unique experience. They should seat the Greensboro Coliseum like they do the Cotton Bowl for OU-Texas, with each school splitting the seats right down the middle. If we’re gonna do this, might as well do it right.
