Recruiting Rankings
Class of 2023: Consensus 4-star, No. 6 ranked tight end, per 247sports
Andrew Rappleyea was a coveted blue-chip prospect who chose Penn State over other college football powerhouses, like Michigan and Ohio State.
Career Stats
After sitting for much of his first two seasons, Rappleyea finally made some contributions last year, catching 20 passes for 180 yards and three touchdowns.
Depth Chart Overview
Rappleyea’s pedigree is undeniable, but he’ll likely be vying for the TE2 spot this offseason. With more established tight ends on the roster who Matt Campbell is more familiar with, the four-star pass-catcher has a better shot at being the backup. There’s no shame in it though, as Campbell’s offenses rely heavily on tight ends, with two of them catching more than 300 yards worth of passes last year at Iowa State.
