There are several reasons nearly every kid dreams of being a professional athlete when they grow up, not least among them the idea that if you make it big time, you’ll be able to give your family a better life.
For Seattle Seahawks first round pick Jadarian Price, that reason was top of his mind when he received his first NFL signing bonus of $8.7 million. In an article for ESPN, Price revealed he spent some of that figure on a home for his family in Denison, Texas, his hometown.

“Checked that off the list,” Price said. He added that his family was all smiles when he shared the news with them.
Some of how other rookies spent their first check included a CyberPower gaming PC for Jacksonville Jaguars‘ third-round pick Albert Regis, a Rolex watch for Cincinnati Bengals third-rounder Tacario Davis, a Tempur-Pedic mattress for Miami Dolphins second-round linebacker Jacob Rodriguez, and stock market investment by Atlanta Falcons third-rounder Zachariah Branch.
Price’s family hasn’t been the only ones smiling this offseason, as the No. 32 overall selection has continued to impress fans, coaches and fellow players alike at Seahawks’ training camp. Price turned heads during the first week, even being featured heavily on the first episode of ‘Hard Knocks.’
There are high expectations for the rookie, who will be stepping up to replace Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker while Zach Charbonnet heals from a torn ACL. Though he has been sidelined for a lower-body injury for the last week, all signs are pointing to the Seahawks’ top draft choice being ready for the season after he returned to practice on Wednesday.
