The Phoenix Suns are retaining one of their young perimeter shooters, with Koby Brea returning on a two-way contract for the 2026-27 season.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Suns have signed Brea to a new two-way NBA contract after he entered the offseason as a restricted free agent. The move keeps the 23-year-old guard/forward in Phoenix after he appeared in 12 NBA games during his rookie campaign.
Brea saw limited action in 2025-26 but made the most of his opportunities as a floor spacer. He averaged 3.8 points, 0.8 assists and 0.7 rebounds in 7.0 minutes per game while shooting 41.7% from the field. His biggest strength translated immediately to the NBA, as he knocked down 43.3% of his 2.5 three-point attempts per game, producing an impressive .597 effective field-goal percentage despite his small sample size.
That shooting profile fits the direction Phoenix has taken this offseason. The Suns have reshaped their roster around franchise cornerstone Devin Booker after finishing 45-37 last season, earning the Western Conference’s seventh seed before being swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs.
Phoenix has undergone significant changes since that playoff exit. The organization traded Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale, along with an unprotected 2033 first-round pick, to the Charlotte Hornets for Miles Bridges, adding athleticism while moving on from two veteran perimeter shooters. To replenish that outside shooting, the Suns signed Luke Kennard after he led the NBA in three-point percentage at 47.8% during the 2025-26 season.
The club has also prioritized continuity elsewhere on the roster. Phoenix re-signed point guard Collin Gillespie to a four-year contract after he averaged 12.7 points and 4.6 assists while shooting 40.1% from three across 80 games last season. Jordan Goodwin and starting center Mark Williams also received new deals, while the Suns drafted Arizona forward Koa Peat with the 30th overall pick.
Bringing back Brea on another two-way contract adds another developmental piece without affecting Phoenix’s financial flexibility. The Suns are operating close to the second apron after their offseason moves, making low-cost contributors increasingly valuable as they continue building depth around Booker, Dillon Brooks, Miles Bridges and the rest of their revamped core.
