Three Texas football players landed on this season’s Lombardi Award watch list, including edge rusher Colin Simmons, offensive lineman Trevor Goosby, and linebacker Rasheem Biles, according to the award committee’s announcement earlier this week. Named in honor of the legendary professional football coach Vince Lombardi, since 1970, the Lombardi Award is given each year to an outstanding offensive or defensive lineman that carries out values such as leadership, courage, performance, and discipline both on and off the football gridiron.
Simmons will be a junior in 2026; Goosby, a redshirt junior; and Biles, who transferred to Texas earlier this offseason after playing three seasons for Pittsburgh, will be a senior this season.

Former Texas offensive lineman Kelvin Banks most recently won the Lombardi Award in 2024, becoming the fourth Longhorn to take home the award that year (Banks was Texas’ first offensive lineman to receive the honor.) Before him, former defensive lineman Brian Orakpo was awarded the honor in 2008. Former Texas defensive tackles Tony Degrate and Kenneth Sims won the Lombardi Trophy in 1984 and 1981, respectively.
