Yaxel Lendeborg didn’t hold back after leading the Golden State Warriors to the NBA Summer League championship, taking a swipe at the Memphis Grizzlies following Sunday’s victory.

After earning Championship Game MVP honors, the No. 11 overall pick credited the Warriors for staying composed while suggesting Memphis couldn’t handle the pressure.

“Man, their butts got tight. They puckered up, you know what I mean?” Lendeborg said. “Some of us are built for the moment, and some aren’t.”

Golden State erased a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Grizzlies 94-90, with Lendeborg leading the comeback.

The former Michigan standout finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds and two steals, scoring nine points in the final quarter while outplaying Memphis rookie Cameron Boozer, who recorded 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

After lifting the Summer League trophy, Lendeborg reflected on the accomplishment.

“I’m just very proud of this moment. I’m glad we got to win this. For the Warriors, what a great way to start.”

Winning on a big stage has become familiar for Lendeborg.

Earlier this year, he helped Michigan capture the NCAA championship despite playing through an injury, and he was also named the Big Ten Player of the Year.
