Georgia loses out on four-star pass rusher to Texas

by

The Georgia Bulldogs lost another recruit to the Texas Longhorns. Four-star edge rusher JaBarrius “Chicken” Garror committed to them, according to Hayes Fawcett. He chose the Longhorns over Georgia, Auburn, and Florida.

Garror is a four-star prospect from the class of 2027. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound edge rusher plays high school football for Vigor High School in Mobile, Alabama. Last season, he earned a team-leading 21.0 sacks, and he was the No. 12 edge rusher, along with the No. 110 recruit in the nation.

Safe to say, Garror is another big addition to the Texas Longhorns 2027 class. They have the No. 12 recruiting class in the nation, according to 247Sports. They have 14 recruits, including five-star wide receiver Easton Royal. However, three of their recruits have come from the month of June. One of those recruits was four-star defensive lineman Kasi Currie, who was heavily pursued by Georgia.

The Bulldogs, meanwhile, have a recruiting class ranked at no. 26. In this early stage, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have a higher-ranked recruiting class than the Georgia Bulldogs (via 247Sports). Georgia has earned some recruiting mileage in June. They secured commitments from four-star quarterback Colton Nussmeier, four-star linebacker Joakim Gouda, and three-star edge rusher Olayiwola Taiwo.

Taiwo is the only EDGE commit Georgia has right now, and considering their history of landing top pass rushers, I wouldn’t be surprised if they try to earn another high-end recruit or flip one. This loss stings Georgia fans, though.
