Italy’s Elisabetta Mijno took pole position in the recurve women’s field on qualification day at the Rome 2026 European Para Archery Championships with a 653, a full 23 points ahead of second-placed archer Ziva Lavrinc of Slovenia.
Mijno’s score was 12 points better than the round she shot in September at the Gwangju 2025 World Archery Para Championships, where she also topped the field. Her teammate Stefano Travisani led the recurve men’s list with a 657, giving the pair a bye directly into the recurve mixed team semifinals on Thursday afternoon.
It was not even the most dramatic lead of the day, as Sarka Pultar Musilova reinforced her dominance in the W1 women’s category. Her score of 652 was a full 37 points ahead of second-placed Victoria Kingstone of Great Britain. The reigning world champion from Czechia, who set a ranking round world record at Paris 2024 and broke the indoor world record last month, is only missing a Paralympic gold medal from her collection.
AIN’s Aleksei Leonov topped the W1 men’s field on 677 and Great Britain’s Nathan MacQueen the compound men’s field with a new national record of 705.
Reigning Paralympic Champion Oznur Cure Girdi of Türkiye edged the compound women’s top seed position ahead of AIN’s Anastasia Dzhioeva on X count (13-11), with the X-ring – the central zone within the 10-ring – used to break ties in qualification, after both scored 676.
Qualification in recurve, compound and W1 took place today, while visually impaired qualification and eliminations will take place on Thursday afternoon.
The competition continues with individual eliminations on Wednesday afternoon.
