The 2026-27 college basketball season is approaching, and with the countdown to opening night underway, preseason rankings and projections are taking shape.
Sports Illustrated recently ranked the nation’s top shooting guards for the 2026-27 season, highlighting the returning players and rising stars expected to make an immediate impact this season.

Florida‘s projected shooting guard for the 2026-27 season is Kentucky transfer Denzel Aberdeen, pending approval of his fifth-year eligibility. He misses the top-10 shooting guard list, but does receive recognition as a shooting guard to watch.
Aberdeen was a contributor on the Gators’ 2025 national championship team before transferring to Kentucky. That season, he averaged 7.7 points per game on 35% shooting from 3-point range in just under 20 minutes of playing time.
Last season with Kentucky, Aberdeen broke out for the program, starting 35 games while recording 13.5 points and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 36% from beyond the arc.
Pending his eligibility, Aberdeen will enter the upcoming season with an opportunity to help Florida remain among the nation’s elite and play a larger role as Florida looks to return to the tournament and win another title.
