UNCASVILLE, CT — A video of Fever coach Stephanie White and Caitlin Clark getting into a verbal disagreement circulated online following the Fever’s 100-84 loss to the Portland Fire on May 30.
Both Clark and White downplayed the exchange on June 1, with Clark chalking the incident up to “two people being competitive” and “two people that really want to win,” and nothing more.

A question about the Fever’s team chemistry was asked after the Fever’s 85-75 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Saturday at Mohegan Sun Arena. Clark said: “We’re on a three-game win streak, we’re doing good.”
Indiana coach Stephanie White then stepped in and vehemently denied any discord.
“I don’t know about our reports … I don’t think you’re talking about journalism,” White said. “And so if we’re continuing to create news from fans on social media or bots on social media or whatever it may be, that’s a problem, right?”
At the time of the viral video of Clark and White disagreeing on the bench, the Fever were 4-4. They have gone 4-1 since and moved into sixth place in the WNBA standings. Clark is averaging 19.9 points and 8.2 assists.
