Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will make a stop in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, later TONIGHT (Sat., April 18, 2026) to stage UFC Winnipeg from inside Canada Life Centre, streaming exclusively on Paramount+. Headlining the event will be a Welterweight bout between Gilbert Burns vs. Mike Malott, while Charles Jourdain vs. Kyler Phillips are tagged with co-headlining duties in a Bantamweight bout.

Burns was once a Top 10-seeded fighter who had hopes of competing for a Welterweight strap. These days, “Durinho” is living outside of the 10-best fighters in the division and hasn’t tasted victory in three years. Currently on a four-fight losing streak, Burns wants to prove to doubters — as well as to himself — that he still has plenty left to offer the sport just a few months shy of turning 40. Burns has long been one of the most exciting fighters in the game, giving it his all win, lose or draw; however, when it comes down to brass tax, he needs to get back to the win column in a bad way. He will have a tough task to say the least since he is facing a streaking fighter who aims to impress on his home soil.
Malott isn’t currently ranked in the Top 15, but a win over Burns would change all of that. All told, Malott is 6-1 under UFC’s banner after making his debut with the promotion four years ago. His current three-fight win streak includes a big victory over Kevin Holland, but one over Burns will do wonders for his stock. What makes “Proper” a legit threat is that he can get it done in all areas of mixed martial arts (MMA), securing five knockouts and six submission wins throughout his career. He is going to need all of those tools if he wants to get one over on Burns who, despite his recent struggles, is still a viable threat. This one should be fun.
Original Card Vs. Actual Card/Injuries
Mitch Raposo had to withdraw from his matchup against Allan Nascimento because of an undisclosed illness. As a result, Nascimento was pulled from the card altogether because of the late withdrawal from his opponent.
New Blood:
There are several newcomers making their first appearances inside the Octagon on this card, so let’s get to it.

Jamie Siraj will make his promotional debut against John Yannis in a Bantamweight bout. Siraj is coming in on a two-fight win streak, and “The Gremlin,” amassing a record of 14-3 with his last loss coming against former UFC veteran, Diego Brandao. As for Yannis, he came up short in his own Octagon debut, losing to Austin Bashi via first round submission (see it here).
Mark Vologdin lost his fight on Contender Series, but he still earned the chance to make it right on the big stage, getting set to make his official debut against John Castaneda, who currently finds himself in the midst of a two-fight losing streak. With a record of 12-4, Vologdin has 10 finishes on his resume, so he gets to work right away to register a win.
Former Bellator MMA veteran, Gokhan Saricam, will finally get his day inside the Octagon after racking up a 5-2 mark in the now-defunct promotion. He will face off against Tanner Boser, who is now on a two-fight win streak after going 1-4 in his last five bouts.

Julien Leblanc will look to increase his win streak to six straight when he makes his UFC debut against Robert Valentin, who finds himself in the midst of a horrible three-fight skid. One more loss for him and he could find himself out of the promotion.
Marcio Barbosa landed a main card spot in his first-ever UFC bout thanks to a first round knockout win over Damon Wilson on Contender Series. Now, he will face Dennis Buzukja, who is in desperate need of a win after going a paltry 1-3 in his last four UFC fights. Barbosa is currently on a four-fight win streak, all first round knockouts. In fact, 16 of his 17 wins have all come in the opening frame.
Mandel Nallo is currently on a five-fight win streak, which includes a first round knockout over Samuel Silva on Contender Series. He will battle nine-fight UFC veteran, Jai Herbert — who is coming off a split decision loss against Chris Padilla — in a Lightweight bout on the main card. Nallo spent six years with Bellator, so he brings plenty of experience.

How The ‘Prelims’ Look:
“New Blood,” which we discussed in the section above, comprises most of UFC Winnipeg’s “Prelims;” therefore, let’s dive in to see the other two bouts that make up the undercard.
In women’s Bantamweight action, Melissa Croden will attempt to get back into the win column after suffering a loss at the hands of Luana Santos in her last outing. She will go toe-to-toe against Daria Zhelezniakova, who was last seen defeating Melissa Mullins via unanimous decision.
JJ Aldrich is in a pretty good place in her career at the moment, going 3-1 in her last four outings. She will try to keep her hot streak going when she locks horns with Jamey Lyn-Horth, who is also 3-1 in her last four and is out to collect her first three-fight win streak under UFC’s banner.

Who Needs A Win Badly:
Burns without a doubt (despite this sentiment) needs a win in the worst way since his most recent win came way back in April 2023. With four straight losses, another defeat could potentially lead to either retirement or even getting released by the promotion. Plus, he is about to turn 40, which won’t do his confidence any favors should he drop another fight.
Interest Level: 4.5/10
Jourdain has turned things around for himself after losing two straight at the hands of Sean Woodson and Jean Silva. At the moment, “Air” is enjoying a two-fight win streak — his first in three years — and will look to make it three straight when he battles Phillips in the co-headliner. As for Phillips, he hasn’t had the best luck as of late since he has lost two straight. A third may not get him cut, but it would be in his best interest to not risk it.

Jasmine Jasudavicius had her five-fight UFC win streak go up in smoke at the hands of Manon Fiorot, and now she will attempt to get back on track against Karine Silva, who has struggled as of late after a hot beginning to her UFC career. Indeed, “Killer” jumped out to a perfect start (4-0) inside the Octagon, but has since dropped two of her last three.
Thiago Moises has not had back-to-back victories since 2022, alternating wins and losses since then to the tune of a 2-3 record. It’s not all horrible, but he needs to be more consistent when it comes to securing wins. His foe, Gauge Young, on the other hand, is just 1-1 so far under UFC’s banner and is coming off a big win over Maheshate Hayisaer.
